I stumbled upon Pollo Tropical Mango Tea quite by accident during a sweltering summer day. I’d just returned from the beach, sun-kissed and thirsty.

- 4-8 bags of your preferred black or green tea
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 ripe mangoes peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 quarts of filtered water
- 1-3 teaspoons agave syrup or maple syrup
- Liquid stevia or sweetener of choice to taste
- 1 cinnamon stick
Step 1: Brew the Tea
In a saucepan, bring 2 quarts of filtered water to a boil. Once it’s boiling, remove it from heat and add your tea bags. Let the tea steep for about 5-7 minutes. This will create a rich, flavorful base for your mango tea.
Step 2: Prepare the Mangoes
Step 3: Mix the Ingredients
Once the tea has cooled a bit, remove the tea bags and stir in the lime juice and agave syrup (or sweetener of choice). Then, add in the mango chunks and the cinnamon stick. The warmth of the tea will help release the sweet essence of the mangoes.
Step 4: Chill or Serve Hot
If you’re aiming for a refreshing iced tea, let it cool completely and then refrigerate. Serve it over ice for the ultimate thirst quencher. If you prefer it hot, simply pour it into your favorite mug and savor the cozy experience.
Step 5: Garnish and Enjoy
- Use fresh mangoes: They make a huge difference in flavor. Ripe but not overripe mangoes will have the best taste.
- Experiment with tea types: Green tea has a lighter flavor, while black tea adds depth. Try both to see which suits your palate better.
- Sweetness is subjective: Start with a small amount of sweetener and taste as you go. You can always add more.
- Make it a cocktail: Add a splash of rum for an adult twist.
- Infuse overnight: For stronger mango flavor, let the mixture sit overnight in the fridge.
